NIGHT DIVE and EKIII SHOWZ

So, hey. Been slow on the blog...but the band has not been slowing down at the least! We have been writing new songs and getting ready to go Europe to support our 7" release over yonder. All is well in BWCW land, don't you get all worried now ya hear?!

So yeah, we have two sweet shows coming up so come by dudes! The first one in at The Mezz in the Alexandria Hotel in Downtown L.A. It's giant art show thingy with bands and djs and stuff. We are playing with out buddies Tremellow and some other pretty dang good bands too. The Facebook event page is here.

The other show is the Night Dive at the Long Beach Aquarium. We are playing in front of the big ass aquarium wall at night. There will be booze, food trucks, and all sorts of mayhem, just hope we don't disturb any grumpy fish. So, hey! BWCW loves the Halloween. We managed to go out a few different nights to get tore up costume style. The lovely and talented 杉山聡美 and ultra buddy was there to take fantastic pics! So, just got back from Peru...good times.. Llamas, Machu Picchu, and some sand dunes. Thought about slappin some BWCW stickers on the ruins but thought it may be in bad taste.

8/26 is the Battle Show at the Smell remember. I am throwing it for my other band Mock Duck and the Unstoppable Death Machines who are both in town that night. Can't wait to see friends VERBS vs Kid Static...first hip-hop battle at the Smell ever. Gonna be epic.

We are getting the final touches of the two new songs done now for the 7". Pumped. They sound so rad. Pete Lyman is mastering them now...he has mastered most of the rad bands round town like Fool's Gold, Wavves, No Age, and Abe Vigoda.

Big stuff happenin soon, are we pumped? Yes! Can't wait for you all to part..wow!

PERU

Mexico Show y Fiesta y Pepper's last stand.

So, besides some van dilemmas we came through and had a rager of a time south of the border. It was Pepper's last show with us ever and our new guitar player Ray's first. All the bands killed it and the cervezas were flowin like crazy. After the show, at like 3am, we went to a party deeper into Mexicali until sunrise, then made it to some 24 hr taco place that ruled. Ate, then busted back to the border at like 9am, to finally sleep. Got to the hotel we booked on U.S. side but decided to just truck it back to LA. Then the van went kaput...nonetheless, we eventually made it home! Great times. We love you Mexicali! Thanks Anthony, Martha, Her Sister, Erik, Abby, Therapist, Ana, Noise Beat Propaganda, J for Jesus from Premiere Towing, crust boy trying to make it to Universal Studios, Lauren, Nate H, Maniqui Lazer, Pacheko, and Luis!!

So, we are recording two new songs for our 7" on Gravy Records out of the UK. They are rad. Check em out. We are happy to be some of the first to be released with them. Their roster is sick. They just released a 7" by DIVORCE. So good. Here are some pics of recording at Infrasonic with Eric.

SMELL/DESERT/VEGAS

So, had a nutty 4th. Actually a nutty 2nd and 3rd. 4th was chill. We played The Smell, busted out to all night desert show, which we got wasted at and never did play, then after raging in the sand and climbing this big ass mountain drunk, at 6am we decided to go to Vegas. It was radical times. Vegas had mad rain, super cool thunder and lightning. We stayed at Terribles...their buffet was .... well..you guessed it..Made it to Pawn Stars pawn shop too...mostly just ate and partied though, not much gambling...

The Smell show was amazing! Thanks for all the peeps singing along...so cool!

So, Check Yo Ponytail 2 was off the chain Tuesday! It was such a blast...everyone was getting totally nuts the whole time..mad stage divin action man!! Friend's, Mans Assassination Man were rowdy and the best I have seen them...drunk and all. Trash Talk slayed with bitchin circle pit craziness..also the best I have seen em. Wavves, dressed like busted ladies, were the best I have seen em to date too and even had a smile pit going...and well...left before Andrew WK...

Thanks to Jacob, who plays drums in Wavves, for getting me press access so I could bring in my camera. He's the one who remixed Endless Summer for us too!

MOCK DUCK

So, this is my other band with my bud Clay. Yep, two guys with no hair named Clay. He is from Canada and well, I live L.A. but am from Minnesota. We met in Chiba, Japan in 04' (both were teaching English) but later moved to Tokyo and started a band called Mock Duck. We played some shows there and have since played some in L.A. and once in Mexico. We have been collaborating across the sea and play shows when I go there and when he comes here. We finally got some recording done and here they are. Our new E.P. Altars of Radness. This is what the other Clay says about us, "2 Clays x 3 Chords = MOCK DUCK. Pretty much everything we've recorded is now available for free download at our new Bandcamp site. It's not much to look at, but the price is right. Recommended for anyone who lost significant amounts of hearing going to see rad bands in the late 90s." You can download it for free. It's been reviewed a view times already and getting some mad love, this one blog gave it a 9.5 out of 10. This is what it said:

"Amazing-ly grungey punkrock.

Mock Duck is a two-piece outfit from L.A./Tokyo. I came across this in the blogospere. They have a punkrock vibe reminiscent of the late 80's/early 90's sound of the Pac NW. Mudhoney/Wipers really come to mind when I hear this. They also sound a bit like Boris' rock n' roll side (not so much the psyche side) which is obviously the Japanese connection.

Dr. Pepper Glass's Last Stand

SO, sorry. Been away for a while. Was in the Philippines and Taiwan but back! On that note we are happy for our guitar player Pepper Glass, whom I have been playing with since 04', because he got a jobby job! We are pumped for him and his new endeavor in life! The job lands him in Utah although, so our fearless leader and true friend will need to split with Batwings Cawtwings. His job starts in August/September at a college in Ogden, Utah. He will be playing some more shows with us this summer but we are on the search for a new guitar player (who is down to do some keys maybe too). We have some homies in mind but want to see if there are any others out there interested. So, Fantastica Bastidas did a rad show the other night that we played. All the bands killed it...never seen or knew about Know Control, but hey, they were pretty darn radical. Bastidas killed it as usual. Therapist surprised everyone with an all out dance party and then we played really drunk.

Japan Benefit Re-Cap.

SO, from Jim at The Smell:

"A big thanks to all who turned out to make this another successful benefit for the victims of the devastating March 11th earthquake in Japan. And a huge thank you to Clay Johnson for organizing the event, and to Foot Village for their generous donation, and of course to all of the bands, DJs and food vendors for donating your services! Because of all of you we were able to raise another $2,300.00 for Japan."

The money has been sent already and we got this email from Shinji from The Boredoms/DMBQ:

"Wow, thank you for your cooperate! I appreciate it very much! Now I am thinking I should send some relief items to the stricken area again.
The life in refuge is very hard still. They can do nothing by
themselves because most of them lost everything, house, job, family,
and friends... They need relief still. Most of the stricken area has
been still buried in rubbles. I promise I will drop your donation to
right, effective place as soon as possible."

This was the best 6 bands in a row that I have ever been a part of, not to mention Jacob Safari and the other Djs for the sick jams and SPOBRA for their insane performance! Thanks for coming, it was a stellar Sunday afternoon.
